High surf advisory in effect until 8 PM edt this evening. Flood watch in effect through this evening.
An increasing risk of brief tornadoes… At 712 AM…National Weather Service radar indicated storms over Volusia County containing weak rotation with increasing chances to acquire moderate rotation. This has prompted the concern for brief tornadoes to occur. Associated wind gusts will reach 45 to 55 mph with the stronger storms…but people will need to be aware of the increased chance for tornadoes and be prepared to take action. There is also an elevated threat for landfalling waterspouts and strong wind gusts along the Brevard County coast…especially from Cocoa Beach north…to inlcude Cape Canaveral. Listen for possible tornado warnings. Locally heavy rain remains a concern for Volusia County…as well as the Saint Johns River Basin. Residents of the stated areas also need to listen for additional flood warnings.
